Black Adam will be a forthcoming American superhero Movie that is based on Shazam, the DC Comics character of a similar name. It is produced through New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions along with FlynnPictureCo., and set to be distributed via Warner Bros. Pictures, it’s envisioned to be a spinoff from Shazam! (2019) and is the eleventh Movie of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has released a new, ominous glimpse of his debut in the role of DC superhero Black Adam, with the action icon hinting at a change in the power hierarchy. Johnson was waiting an extended period of time to get dressed as Black Adam, and audiences will finally get to witness him unleash the power of super-powered violence in the coming year.
After many years of waiting Black Adam will see Dwayne Johnson as Teth Adam, also known as Black Adam, an antihero from Kahndaq who is imprisoned for 5,000 years. After releasing the chains of slavery, Teth Adam is selected by Shazam, the wizard Shazam for his ability to tap into the power that was once the power of ancient Egyptian gods. S for the endurance of Shu, H for the rapidity of Horus, A for the power of Amon, Z for the Zehuti’s wisdom, A for the strength of Aten in addition to M for the bravery that comes from Mehen, Black Adam goes into becoming the arch enemy of Shazam the superhero and his super-powered family.
It’s not the first time one of the writers of Black Adam has teased the character’s inclination to kill the film’s producer Hiram Garcia revealing that the film would push the limits that it has a PG-13. “Black Adam is edgy, right? That’s gonna be a PG-13 movie where it was very much like, say, The Dark Knight, where that pushed the edges of PG-13,” Garcia explained. “I think we do that very much with Black Adam. We have a very high kill count in our movie.”
Director Jaume Collet-Serra revealed that Black Adam has a violent nature and compared Black Adam to the DC villain like Dirty Harry no less, something he can’t wait to witness The Rock brings to life. “Basically, turning him into Clint Eastwood in a Western. I was like, ‘You’re like the Dirty Harry of superheroes,'” the director explained. “I didn’t have to convince people that I was right for this one in the same way that I did for Jungle Cruise. It’s like things I’ve done with Liam [Neeson], that tough-guy antihero who has a heart. The world is not black and white. The world is in gray areas, so you need these people that are riding that gray area.”
